Education

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Co-op), University of Victoria

Victoria, BC

  • GPA 8.69 / 9.0 (A+ average).
  • Co-op Work Term 1 completed, Summer 2026.

Design teams and projects

UVic AERO, Mechanical team

Student team that designs, builds and flies uncrewed aircraft for the national AEAC student UAS competition, working with UVic's Centre for Aerospace Research.

  • Work on the mechanical team, which designs and builds the airframe and mechanical systems for the competition aircraft.
  • Modelled a glider airframe in Fusion 360 from reference photos, lofting the fuselage and wings through cross-sections.
  • Learning and applying the team's design-to-build workflow, from CAD through 3D-printed and composite parts to flight testing.

SmartSpace Systems, Occupancy-aware lighting controller

First-year design project for UVic Facilities Management, team of three.

  • Built a Raspberry Pi Pico W controller that counts people through a doorway with IR break-beam sensors, backed up by a PIR motion sensor, with a web dashboard for facilities staff.
  • Selected, mounted and calibrated the IR break-beam, PIR and ambient light sensors.
  • Led testing on a mock doorway: 56 of 60 passages counted correctly (93%), with failure modes documented. Wrote the team's feasibility report, graded 95%. Final demo 30/30.

Experience

Independent Software Developer, CookSmart

May 2026 – present

Mississauga, ON (remote). Co-op Work Term 1

  • Co-built an internal operations system replacing spreadsheets for scheduling, staff hours, payroll and shopping lists.
  • Contracted on my own to build CookSmart's customer relationship management tool at a fixed price. Wrote the proposal and scope, negotiated the terms, and delivered on time in milestones the client signed off one at a time.
  • Gathered requirements from the owner and staff, designed the data model with role-based permissions, and set up a nightly Squarespace sync and an Acuity Scheduling import.
  • Tested each release against real data with the owner, then moved it to the client's hosting and wrote the handoff docs.

Head Counsellor, National Kids Camps

Summers 2021 – 2024

Chelsea, QC

  • Ran the day-to-day operation of a mountain bike camp of 35+ kids a week: led a team of 10 counsellors and volunteers, planned each day's activities and adapted them to weather, trail conditions and skill levels, and served as the link between staff and camp management.
  • Primary contact for parents, resolving concerns promptly and escalating when needed. Coached groups of 8+ riders aged 7 to 14 on the Camp Fortune trails, and checked and repaired campers' bikes each week.

Lead Technician, Stage Crew (volunteer), Glebe Collegiate

Sept 2021 – Nov 2024

Ottawa, ON

  • Over 500 hours rigging and running lighting and sound in a 1,250-seat auditorium. Tested every fixture and connection before each show and fixed faults live. Trained junior crew.
